Is it Time for a Check-Up?

Updated: Aug 14, 2020

Great leaders self-examine.

Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” The Bible tells us, “But let a man examine himself. . .Self-examination is healthy leadership practice.

According to Tozer, an unexamined life is like an unattended garden. Lack of examination will not yield roses or tomatoes, but weeds. Therefore, self-examination is a check-up. In examining oneself as a leader, it has been said, that you should ask yourself three questions: What must I keep doing? What must I stop doing? What must I start doing?

This periodic check-up  doesn’t have to be a personal journey, nor should you have to chart a course. You only need to remember the goal is to regularly do it to prevent complacency and stagnation, and to keep your engine running smoothly.

Great leaders know what they are good at, and what areas yet need developing.  Periodic check-ups will help you not lose sight of these, and make you a much more effective and engaging leader.
